4 Ways to Wear........

A regular client contacted me last week, wanting quick advice on what to buy with her JCrew voucher she had received after our last big shop there.

I came across this lovely satin trouser with pop tux stripe. They price in at £328 and for a an ‘added bonus’ part to her wardrobe it seemed a little steep. However it got me thinking about all the ways you could style them up to get most for your money. Below are my 4 ways to wear.

1: Keep it minimal. A white slim fit shirt, like this one from COS works tucked in, teamed with a kitten heel, vertiginous heel or block heel and this belted trench from Whistles. A summer weight trench also works as we move through the season.

2: A slightly more casual approach would be to style with fine knit sweaters- great for that chill that’s still hanging in the air. This pale pink one from Zara would be perfect tucked in, and for a pop of colour team with these fab citrine coloured sling backs from Next.

3: For an even more casual look you can pair with this soft grey, cropped jumper from & Other Stories and a pair of Stan Smiths. I have chosen silver here, just because I love a bit of metallic. Finish off with a pale toned leather or suede jacket. Swap the jumper out for a plain Tee or vest as the weather warms up and the trainers for a pair of sliders or heeled mules.

4: Finally you can leave all the above behind and style it up for a slick city wedding. An oversized blazer, like this from Paul Smith works well, worn over a silky lace cami or something similar. Heels and an envelope clutch and you are good to go. I have stayed in a neutral pallet here, but feel free to pull out the green or the yellow with your shoes and bag choices.

When it comes to accessorising, gold will work beautifully with all of the above, keep it simple for work. Maybe a fine hoop earring or a gold bangle, as the outfit becomes more casual feel free to load the accessories. Fine necklaces stacked up or statement pieces such as this Bitten Biscuit necklace from Gavin Turk at TrueRocks jewellery. I. x
